Your diet should include adequate vitamins, minerals, dietary fibre, protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats which allow your body to work well.

Physical Activity:

Regular exercise strengthens your bones, muscles, lungs and your cardiovascular system.

Sleep:

Getting quality sleep of 6-8 hours each night allows your body to repair cells and goes under other maintenance.

Stress:

Stress places a strain on your body and increases the risk of other issues, physical or emotional. When you’re stressed, you’re more likely to engage in an unhealthy lifestyle.

Checking in with a primary physician every year should be on your list for the things to do. This will help detect any problems and keep your body up to date with all tests necessary. Together with that, every woman should have a pap smear. Pap smears are recommended for women ages 21–29 every three years. For women between 30-65, it is recommended to get it done every 3-5 years. These tests are important to detect cervical cancer and pre-cancer early. If you are around 45 or 50, it is strongly advised to go for mammograms. This will assist in detecting breast cancer at an early stage where it can be cured.

2. Keeping In Touch With Your Gynec:

It is extremely necessary to have a gynecologist you can go to whenever you need a review on your contraceptive methods or family planning. Most women suffer from hormonal disorders or issues with planning a baby. Therefore, if you’re in touch with your gynec, he/she can advise you on what to do before it gets too late.

3. Start Exercising If Don’t Already:

Throughout your day, physical activity should take up at least 20-30 minutes a day. You should be doing daily cardiac activity (such as walking, running, swimming, hiking, or biking) since it is recommended for heart health, weight management and stress reduction. The good news about exercise is that it is never too late to start. If you are older than 50 years, you can start small but don’t avoid it.

4. Listen To Your Body:

Optimal health has a lot to do with trusting yourself. Your body knows how to send a signal if something seems off. Trust that instinct and do things to work on it. If you feel less energy or more digestive issues when trying out certain foods or healthy supplements, your body knows better than a diet plan, so listen. Likewise, if you’re feeling overworked and stressed or something doesn’t feel right in your body, listen to it and prioritize your health.

5. Don’t Feel Selfish For Taking Care Of Yourself:

Self-care is not selfish. You need to prioritize yourself in order to show up and feel your best for work, family, and friends. No matter how packed your schedule is, take time everyday to do something just for your mental and physical health. Don’t feel bad or selfish about taking care of your body. Taking the time to check in with yourself everyday will do wonders for your physical and emotional health.

Keeping yourself hydrated is one of the biggest factors of improving your health. About 60% of your body is made up of water which means that drinking enough water is important for optimum functioning of your body. Drinking more water delivers oxygen throughout the body, improves skin health, flushes down body waste, and makes minerals and nutrients from food accessible to different parts of your body.

That’s great news because so much of what you can do to be healthy today will prevent you from feeling beyond older than you are. That includes eating a healthy diet, staying active, and having regular health screenings. Healthy aging also emphasizes things you shouldn’t do, such as smoking and drinking excess alcohol. You can also help slow aging by learning to manage stress and cope with mental health issues that will naturally arise throughout your life.
