Sushant Singh Rajput – #JusticeForSSR
Sushant Singh Rajput, a young and dynamic and humble Bollywood star reportedly committed suicide on 14th June 2020. That incident took away everybody by shock. In this article, we will try to put together all the events and things together that we know about this mysterious high profile case. We will start with a small introduction of Sushant Singh Rajput (SSR). Then we will discuss the case in brief, read what the ambulance driver and postmortem report had to say. Also discuss in detail the case from different angles such as Mumbai and Bihar Police, Father of SSR Mr. K.K.Singh and prime suspect Rhea Chakraborty.
Towards the end of the article, we will see the detailed timeline of all the events that happened since the death of SSR, we will discuss the public sentiment and vital role of Subramanian Swamy.
Who was Sushant Singh Rajput?
Sushant Singh Rajput (SSR) – Education
Sushant Singh Rajput was a Bollywood actor who first started his career in TV serials. Sushant completed his initial schooling from Patna, Bihar. Later he went to school in Delhi. This is where he took a drop of 1 year after 12th to prepare for the entrance exam. He had ranked 7th in the DCE Entrance Exam in 2003. Therefore securing admission in the Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) in Delhi College of Engineering. He also won the National Olympiad in Physics. He also had a deep interest in astronomy. This tells us how amazingly smart he was.
Sushant Singh Rajput Entry Into Bollywood
Sushant made his film debut in Kai Po Che (2013). For which he received a nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He then starred in the romantic comedy Shuddh Desi Romance (2013) and in the action thriller Detective Byomkesh Bakshy (2015). His highest-grossing releases came with a supporting role in PK (2014), followed by a role in the sports biopic M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016). For his performance in the M.S Dhoni, he received his first nomination for the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. Sushant went on to star in the commercially successful films Kedarnath (2018) and Chhichhore (2019). His film, Chhichhore, was a box-office winner, earning Rs150 crore.
Dil Bechara (2020), his last film, was released on Hotstar. It became the most viewed movie for that platform, with 95 million viewers within 24 hours.
CASE : Suicide or Murder?
All the news channels were flooded with the news of Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide on the 14th of June. He was found dead in his apartment. According to reports he was found hanging in his apartment, and his body was first discovered by his cook.
He lived in a duplex flat on the sixth floor of Mont Blanc Apartments, Joggers Park, Bandra West in Mumbai. He lived with 3 house-helps, that included 2 Cooks and 1 Housekeeper. When he was found dead, Niraj (Cook), Siddharth (Friend), and Dipesh (servant) were present at the apartment. Sushant was not answering the door so Niraj called Siddharth home. He also attempted to open the door but was unsuccessful. Therefore, they called the police.
Ambulance Driver
According to the ambulance driver, the body was not hanging from the fan. It was already on the bed when they arrived. The ambulance driver along with two of his colleagues wrapped the body in white cloth. He claims that Mumbai Police officials reached the spot before them. They had clicked the photos of the body and uploaded it on Facebook. He later said that Sushant’s body was supposed to be taken to Nanavati hospital but instead it was later taken to Cooper hospital. Allegedly Sushant had used his bedsheet to end his life and was wearing a black International Space University T-shirt.

Postmortem Report
The final post mortem report identified the cause of the actor’s death as “asphyxia due to hanging”. Therefore stating that it was a clear case of suicide. According to the postmortem report, “No struggle marks or external injuries” were found on the actor’s body. Forensic analysis revealed that the cloth used by the actor to hang could take his weight. Analysis of ligature marks found on his neck also points to the actor’s death is a case of suicide.

Neeraj – The Cook
Neeraj, who was working with Sushant for the past one and half years, was one of the few people who were in the house when the body was discovered.
According to him, at around 9:30 am Sushant briefly spoke to his sister, at around 10 am he asked for his breakfast- some juice and coconut water. Then he went to his room and locked his door and stayed inside. The cook mentioned that he usually never locks the door but on that day he did. The staff later knocked on his door for lunch, but when he didn’t answer they decided not to disturb him. Then when Sushant continued to not answer the door, the cook became worried and called Sushnat’s friend Siddharth Pithani.
Siddharth Pithani – The Friend
Siddharth is a director and content creator who mostly works in Telugu Movie Industry. He was a good friend of Sushant. He was called by the cook as Sushant was not answering the door.
Siddharth arrived at the house. He then called Sushant’s sister Mitu Singh. They tried to find the key to Sushant’s room but were unsuccessful. He later called a key maker to open the door, but once that was not successful, he called the police. A locksmith was called to open the door. At around 12:30 – 12:45, after he dialed the police, Siddharth broke open the door and discovered Sushant’s dead body. After that is when all the revelations took place.
Dipesh Sawant – The Servant
Dipesh Sawant, who was Sushant’s servant, was also present in Sushant’s house along with Siddharth. During a live session with Sunil Jha, Vishal Rajput made some sensational revelations. Vishal said that Sushant Singh Rajput’s servant Dipesh was caught by Mumbai Police with Rs 22 lakhs. However, the matter did not come out.
Rhea Chakraborty – The Girlfriend
Rhea Chakraborty is an Indian actress and VJ. She started her career as a VJ on MTV India. In 2013, she made her Bollywood acting debut with the film Mere Dad Ki Maruti. She was the girlfriend of Sushant. Right now, she is the limelight of the case. She was “living-in” with Sushant and had left his house on 8th of June.
She reportedly revealed that Sushant had been suffering from depression for the past few months. He had also stopped taking the medicines for the past few weeks. The two had been living together during the lockdown, she claimed, and she left his house after a fight. Rhea in a social media post posted a screenshot of receiving death threats from a user on social media. She also revealed the identity of the user who goes by the name Mannu Rauut.
Rhea filed a petition in Supreme Court and sought transfer of investigation case to Mumbai Police. Rhea went to the Supreme Court after Patna police reached Mumbai in search of her. Rhea told the Supreme Court that she was in a “live-in relationship” with Sushant. And had left his house on the 8 of June. Which was just six days before the actor allegedly committed suicide. She also broke her silence over the FIR filed against her by the family of Sushant and said that the “truth shall prevail”.
In a video statement released by her lawyer Satish Maneshinde, Rhea said that she has full faith in the judiciary. She that refrain from speaking about the allegations against her since the matter is sub-judice. Now that she is in place of the accused, she is trying to play the victim card by posting messages between her and Sushant trying to show Sushant’s relationship with his sisters.
Simultaneously, The Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Rhea in connection with the money laundering case based on the FIR. So far, Rhea, her brother Showik Chakraborty, Siddharth Pithani, his former business manager Shruti Modi and sister Mitu Singh have been called for questioning by the ED.
Disha – The Ex Manager:
Disha Salian was a Celebrity manager, who has worked with popular Bollywood actors like Sushant Singh Rajput, Bharti Singh, and Varun Sharma.
On the 8th of June, Disha, who had been appointed by Rhea, committed suicide. According to the FIR, Sushant was afraid that Rhea would pin the responsibility for the suicide on him after she threatened to frame him in a murder case. There has also been rape allegations regarding Disha’s death.
It was alleged that Disha was invited to a party on the night of her death, was raped and thrown down the building.
Police
Mumbai Police
The police revealed that Sushant tried to hang himself with the belt of a bathrobe, but it could not sustain his weight so he used a green kurta. They also said that due to the less distance between his bed and the ceiling fan, he had hanged himself in an inclined position.
Later during the case Mumbai Police interrogated many stars of Bollywood such as Sanjana Sanghi, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mahesh Bhatt etc.
Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said that the Mumbai Police is capable of handling the matter and there was no need of a CBI enquiry into the matter. He also said that the Mumbai police is also examining the business rivalry angle in the matter. The Mumbai Police Commissioner, Param Bir Singh claimed that Sushant was suffering from bipolar disorder and was taking medication for it.
Bihar Police (25th July) :
Sanjay Singh, the Inspector General of Patna, told ANI that the FIR was registered under various sections, including abetment to suicide.
Those sections were:
- 341 – Wrongful restraint
- 342 – Wrongful confinement
- 380 – Theft in a dwelling house
- 406 – Criminal breach of trust
- 420 – Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property
- 306 – Abetment of suicide
Four Bihari Police officers landed in Mumbai on the 27th of July and began their own inquiry. The Patna IPS officer Vinay Pandey was also quarantined after reaching there. It was done according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Covid-19 protocol.
The Bihar Police has prepared a file of evidence that includes a 48-page bank transaction between Rhea and Sushant and a 13 page WhatsApp chat between the late actor and his ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande. Statements of six people and telephone conversations with a key witness are also part of that. Gupteshwar Pandey (Bihar Policeman), said that Rhea is absconding and not coming forward.
Nitish Kumar, the Bihar Chief Minister said that the government can initiate a CBI probe on the condition that the family of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput demands it. When the Mumbai Police didn’t cooperate and hand over important documents related to the case, they changed their strategy and started digging for evidence.
Mr. K.K Singh – Sushant’s Father :
Sushant’s father held serious allegations against Rhea and her family, including that they kept him away from his family, handled his bank accounts and took away crores of rupees. His FIR mentioned that when she found Sushant’s bank balance was depleting, she left his house on the 8th of June. While leaving, she took cash, jewellery and his medical reports along with her, and also blocked his mobile number.
According to him, Sushant had called his sister and told her that Rhea had threatened him that she would show the doctors receipts to the media and prove he was insane. The father reportedly revealed that his son would often feel “low” but they didn’t know he was depressed. Sushant Singh Rajput’s father lodged an FIR in Patna against six people including Rhea Chakraborty. In the FIR, Sushant Singh Rajput’s father also accused Rhea of transferring Rs 15 crore from the actor’s bank account and accused her of abetment to suicide.
He even accused Rhea and her family members of stealing Sushant’s laptop, cash, jewellery, credit cards with PINs etc. and threatening the late actor of making his medical reports public. Sushant’s father also told ANI that the Mumbai Police was not registering an FIR in the matter and was instead forcing them to give the names of big production houses to get them involved in the case. He claimed that the matter was heading in a different direction under the Mumbai Police.
What took the case to a totally different direction was Sushant’s father claiming that the family had approached the Mumbai police four months before his alleged suicide. On the 25th February, the family had reported to Bandra police saying that he is not in good company and please ensure nothing untoward happens to him, adding that the Patna police only filed the FIR after Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar stepped in.
Ankita Lokhande – Ex Girlfriend:
Ankita Lokhande is an Indian actress who earned fame with her debut award-winning role in Balaji Telefilms’s daily show Pavitra Rishta on Zee TV. She was one of the highest paid actresses of the television industry until she retired in 2018 to plunge into films.
Sushant’s ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande, has demanded an in-depth investigation, saying a man with so much ‘joie de vivre’ couldn’t have sunk into depression that would have led to taking his own life. Ankita is currently assisting Sushant’s family to fight for justice for his death.
Case – Timeline
June 8 – Disha (Sushant’s ex manager) was found dead.
June 14 – Sushant was found hanging from the fan. It was declared a suicide.
June 15– The final rites of Sushant took place at Pawan Hans crematorium.
June 16 – Statements by Sushant’s father and two sisters were recorded.
June 17 – Mukesh Chhabra, the director of Sushant’s last film Dil Bechara, recorded his statement with the police. There was a complaint in the local court against 8 people. Which included Salman Khan, Karan Johar, and Ekta Kapoor regarding his death.
June 18 -Sushant’s ashes were immersed in the river Ganga in his hometown Patna in Bihar. Rhea Chakraborty was called for questioning at the Bandra police station.
June 19- The Mumbai Police sought details of contracts from Yash Raj Films
June 22 – Rohini Iyer, a friend of Rajput’s and ex-publicist, was next questioned.
June 25 – The final postmortem report signed by a team of five doctors was received by the Mumbai police.
June 30- Sanjana Sanghi was interrogated by the Mumbai police at the Bandra police station. His family members also met with the police regarding the investigation.
July 6 – Sanjay Leela Bhansali was questioned by the Mumbai police. Bhansali revealed that Sushant was approached for many of his films but he did not have dates.
July 11- Mumbai Police records statement of Salman Khan’s former manager Reshma Shetty.
July 14- After one month of his death, his ex-girlfriend Ankita Lokhande and his current girlfriend Rhea remembered the actor and expressed their grief in an Instagram post
July 16- Rhea posted a screenshot of receiving death threats from a user. Hours after posting death threats she is receiving Rhea was called for a CBI probe in his death case.
July 17- Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh claimed that the Mumbai Police are capable of handling the matter. He also stated that there was no need for a CBI enquiry into the matter.
July 18- Mumbai Police records statement of Aditya Chopra
July 24– Sushant’s last film “Dil Bechara” was released on Disney Plus Hotstar.
July 26– Narendra Modi acknowledged a letter by Subramanian Swamy, requesting a CBI inquiry in the suicide case of Sushant.
July 27– Mumbai Police recorded statements of Mahesh Bhatt.
July 28– Mumbai Police records statement of Apoorva Mehta, CEO of Dharma Productions.
July 27- Forensic analysis received.
July 31– Rhea told the Supreme Court that she was in a “live-in relationship” with Sushant. She had left his house on the 8 of June.
August 1– Nitish Kumar, the Bihar Chief Minister said that the government can initiate a CBI probe only if the family of the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput demands it.
August 2– Rhea went missing. Bihar Police traced the whereabouts of Rhea and sent a notice, asking her to comply in the investigation.
August 3– The Mumbai Police Commissioner, Param Bir Singh said they had no information on the whereabouts of Rhea. She was absconding ever since late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s father lodged an FIR against her.
August 4– The Bihar police official changed their strategy and started digging for evidence.
August 5– The Centre informed the Supreme Court that it has handed over the death case to the CBI.

Role Of Subramanian Swamy
At this point, almost everyone believes that this was a very well planned murder. Permission for a CBI inquiry has been granted. This was made possible by the many trending hashtags and influential people such as Subramanian Swamy.
Subramanian Swamy released a 26 point note to prove that the death of Sushant was not a suicide but a murder. He had then also written a letter to Narendra Modi seeking a joint probe by CBI, NIA and the Enforcement Directorate into Sushant’s death. He is believed to be one the main reasons why a CBI has been granted regarding Sushant’s death.
Un-Answered Questions from SSR case
- Did Sushant really have mental health issues?
We can all agree to disagree on various debates and discussions on the Sushant Singh Rajput case, but can we all confirm that the actor had mental health issues, to begin with? While at one point Sushant’s father claimed to have had no idea about his son dealing with any such issue, several psychiatrists, close associates, and of late, even his family’s Whatsapp group conversations have made rather contradictory statements.
- Was there a party at his house the night before?
Shortly after Sushant’s death went public, initial reports claimed that the actor was partying the night before his suicide. Reports even alleged that the building association heads had a problem with his late-night parties and wanted him out of the house. However, later reports seemed to suggest that the actor was not hosting any party owing to the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.
- Was Aditya Thackeray at the alleged party?
Among the many wild rumours and conspiracy theories that have crept up online is one that places politician Aditya Thackeray at Sushant’s party. The curious case of the CCTV camera footage had done little to counter this claim, provided that there indeed was a party, to begin with.
- What happened to all the Nepotism and Bollywood Mafia debates?
Two months may be a long time, but it is still not long enough to answer what drove Sushant to take the tragic step. Those following the case will know of the ‘nepotism’, ‘Bollywood mafia’, ‘favouritism’, ‘lack of work’ and other such reasons were initially rumoured to be the things that prompted the actor to take his life. However, over the past weeks, it seems like these theories have been put to rest.
- Why were big Bollywood names dragged into the investigation?
With Sushant Singh Rajput’s father, KK Singh naming Rhea Chakraborty and 5 others as primary suspects in his FIR to the Patna police, doesn’t it make you wonder why Bollywood biggies like Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Mahesh Bhatt, Aditya Chopra and many others were dragged into this case? In fact, in his statement he even alleged that the Mumbai cops were taking their investigation in a different direction prompting him to approach the Bihar police.
- Is there a link between Sushant and Disha Salian’s deaths?
Even though investigations in the matter are still on, the details revealed thus far seem to claim that Sushant’s death had no connection to his former manager Disha Salian who died after falling from her high rise Mumbai apartment. Despite the manager’s family repeatedly denying any link between the two, this is one question that many can’t quite seem to shake off.
- Who tore the pages from Sushant’s diary?
Sushant’s personal diaries and the content they hold have come back into the spotlight after it was revealed that certain pages were ripped out. Will it ever be proved that the diary was tampered with or was it just Sushant who tore off the pages? Conspiracy theorists, on the other hand, beg to differ and suggest that it could have even been a third party trying to cover up something.
- Did Rhea really take Rs 15 crore of Sushant’s money?
As far as the FIR against Rhea Chakraborty goes, the tangible evidence that anyone can find at this moment is the disappearance of Rs 15 crore from Sushant’s account. Interestingly, while the father claims the actor had Rs 15 crore, a former manager of the actor alleged he saw the books and noted that Sushant had Rs 30 crore in his account back in January 2019 while his CA mentioned that he had only around Rs 2-3 crore.
