I’m sure we all know who SRK is but for those who don’t, Shah Rukh Khan also known as King Khan is a Bollywood actor, producer and television personality. He has appeared in more than 80 Bollywood films, and earned numerous awards. He has been the King of Bollywood for quite some time and it doesn’t seem like anyone else is going to take his place. Despite all the good he’s done for Bollywood, there have been many controversies linked to him. Let’s find out what those are:
Shah Rukh Khan tends to attract controversies from all sides. He has become one of the most controversial actors in Bollywood owing to either his celebrity status, religion or behaviour.
As we all know gender reveals have become a trend now, many soon to be parents find out the gender of their unborn baby and have a party for it. Well, it didn’t seem like such a good idea back then. When Gauri Khan and him were going for a third baby surrogacy, speculations that the celeb-couple went for sex determination test were rife.
Lashkar-e-Taiba founder, Hafiz Saeed had asked Shah Rukh Khan to move to Pakistan if he feels ‘insecure’ in India, and assured that the Bollywood actor will “enjoy all the freedom that he wants in this country.” This was after Shah Rukh Khan’s statement of being accused of bearing allegiance to Pakistan.
After Shah Rukh Khan stated that he wanted Pakistan cricketers to play in the third season of IPL, Shiv Sena threatened to stall the release of his then upcoming film, My Name Is Khan.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials lodged a police complaint against Kolkata Knight Riders’ co-owner Shah Rukh Khan for his alleged misbehaviour at the Wankhede Stadium. They have even decided to ban him for life from entering the premises. Apparently, he misbehaved and abused the MCA security personnel as well as MCA officials, including the president after an IPL match.
There was a time when Salman Khan and SRK called each other brothers. But after sometime, the rivalry between the two was out in the open. Things apparently got ugly at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party in 2008. It is believed that SRK made inappropriate comments about Salman’s ex-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan which annoyed him.
Shah Rukh Khan found himself mired in a major controversy following his comment on ‘ extreme intolerance’ in India at an event. The issue resulted in several protests against the actor and his then released film, ‘Dilwale.
BJP’s MP, Poonam Mahajan has raised an objection to the ramp next to the Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow, Mannat, that is allegedly illegally constructed and has been under controversy for long.
A picture of Priyanka and Shah Rukh sparked the rumours when she went to visit him at his office at three in the morning. This raised a lot of eyebrows and speculations were rife about the two dating each other. It was reported that Gauri had started avoiding Priyanka and was even snubbed by Gauri when at an event she went to greet her.
Shah Rukh allegedly assaulted Farah Khan’s husband and filmmaker, Shirish Kunder at Sanjay Dutt’s Agneepath success bash. Wait what? Weren’t Farah Khan and Shah Rukh defining #SquadGoals for us? They are, but doesn’t mean he has to get along with Farah’s husband too.Apparently, Shah Rukh was being stalked and provoked by Shirish, and decided to do something about it. So, he pinned Shirish onto the sofa, and slapped him.
In the first instance, Shah Rukh was detained at the Newark Airport in New Jersey, for almost two hours. And that was all because of his last name. He was only released after Congress MP Rajiv Shukla spoke to the American authorities. The second time, Shah Rukh was detained at a New York airport, after he arrived on a private plane with Nita Ambani, to meet students at Yale University. Nita and the rest of the crew was let through, almost immediately. But Shah Rukh was held for about two hours again.
